Members of Congress from Texas react to violent assault towards Nancy Pelosi's husband, uptick in violence towards lawmakers – WFAA.com

Congress members from either side of the aisle condemned the violence towards Pelosi.

DALLAS — Lawmakers from throughout the nation are reacting to the information that Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was attacked by man who broke into the couple’s San Francisco residence early Friday morning.

Amongst elected officers sharing their reactions to Twitter are quite a few members of congress from North Texas.

Rep. Marc Veasey, Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson and Rep. Colin Allred, all democrats, condemned the violence towards Pelosi and expressed their prayers and hopes for his restoration.

Whereas not one of the republican members of the Home of Representatives representing districts within the Dallas-Fort Price metroplex launched statements on the incident, Sen. Ted Cruz, who’s a Republican, shared his condolences to the Pelosis on Twitter. 

The violent assault towards Paul Pelosi is among the newest in an uptick towards members of Congress from each events, following the Jan. 6 riot.

The New York Instances reviews that Capitol Police investigated greater than 9,600 threats to members of Congress in 2021 and greater than 1,800 within the first quarter of 2022.

That report states that fewer than 100 arrests have come from these investigations as a result of investigators imagine nearly all of these threats have been made by folks affected by psychological well being points who didn’t pose a reputable menace.
