August’s Revenge
i’m so prepared, i’ve executed the prep
i’ve received my cardigans, plaid on deck
tights for legs, scarves for neck
boots and funky playlists prepped
designs in thoughts for pumpkins to carve
{couples} costumes and foliage journeys deliberate
getting misplaced within the daydream
of that first cool breeze
and auburn go away and lengthy sleeves
as a drop of sweat beads and my face
and this august heatwave whispers
you could wait…
